Why you need to save energy

why is it necessary to save electricity

Is it worth saving energy if “everything is fine”?There are huge reserves of oil and gas, large hydroelectric plants and many nuclear reactors. Is it really not enough? It's enough, but you still need to save, because...

International Energy Saving Day was established relatively recently, on November 11, 2008. The initiator of the holiday was the environmental network “School Project on the Use of Resources and Energy”.

It seems that children invented a holiday for themselves, let them have fun, adults don't care about it.In fact, the holiday was not invented by children, but by adults and responsible people who care about the fate of humanity and the planet.

Unfortunately, not everyone sees the need to save energy, so it is very important that the initiator of Energy Saving Day was a school project. If children understand how to save energy, then in the future they will not have to convince adults of the importance of taking care of resources.

And yet - why? What does energy saving give us?

1. Money

Everything is simple with money. We use less energy – we pay less for it.Perhaps someone will grimace dismissively: “Here, counting meager amounts!”But this is just one of the benefits of saving energy.

2. Comfort

A significant part of energy expenditure is spent on maintaining a comfortable temperature at home and in the office. In winter - for heating, in summer - for air conditioning.

A properly configured climate system not only uses energy efficiently, but also maintains a comfortable “indoor climate”.In winter no one freezes, in summer no one wastes away from stuffiness.

3. Nature

The percentage of “green” renewable sources in global energy production is constantly increasing. But the volumes of “clean” energy will soon not be equal to those we obtain through burning gas, coal and petroleum products.

When burning hydrocarbons, we emit a huge amount of substances into the atmosphere that are harmful to all living beings, from which not only we suffer, but also our animals, rivers, forests and lakes.

The less energy we use, the less dirt enters nature, the better our health will be, the more lush our forests will be and the cleaner our waters will be.The more often our children will be able to see a rabbit, a stork or a roe deer, not through the bars of a zoo, but on a forest path, outside the window of a train or car.

4. Weather

Not a day goes by without the media reporting a new hurricane, a catastrophic heat wave, a flood or a drought.Scientists blame global warming for this and associate it with the increased concentration of greenhouse gases in the planet's atmosphere.

One of the most powerful carbon dioxide pollutants of the atmosphere is energy.By reducing energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions, we can halt negative climate processes.

Let the skeptics argue that nothing is really proven, that it is possible that the increase in the concentration of greenhouse gases is not a cause, but rather a consequence of warming. Is this a reason to refuse something that could harm our planet? Is it too dangerous to wait for reliable confirmation?Who will wait for them and who will need them if the point of no return is passed?Certainly not us and not us.

5. Economy and technology

The lower the energy costs for production, the lower its price, the greater the competitiveness of our products and the more efficient the economy.

Efficient energy consumption stimulates scientific thinking and the development of modern technologies.Does anyone remember when American cars stopped pumping gas on the highways? After the first energy crisis in 1973.

The latest technologies provide technological leadership, make products even more competitive and increase the country's economic and military security.

6. Children

We all work, play, argue about politics and climb the career ladder. But we live for the sake of our children, don't we?

The less we use the planet's resources, the more there will be for our children and grandchildren.Isn't it worth saving energy just for that?
